Health and Safety

Safety is the most important aspect of every project Environmental Evolutions National performs. Our Behavior Based Health and Safety System focuses on preventing safety incidents using behavior-based tools and management techniques. This system is designed to identify and eliminate risk before it occurs by modifying employees' behaviors and empowering them to be responsible for their own safety as well as the safety of others. Our motto is: no injuries, no incidents — no excuses.

Task observations are conducted on a regular basis in order to identify potential risks and hazards related to the specific task to be performed. From there, procedures and work plans are modified in order to eliminate these risks and hazards. These observations are conducted by the field-level employees that will actually perform the work, and they are given the responsibility to alter their behavior and coach those they work with in order to prevent harm to people, equipment and property.

All employees are HAZWOPER certified (Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response) as defined by OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), which governs the safety requirements employers must meet in order to conduct hazardous waste operations.
The HAZWOPER standard covers five (5) specific areas of operations including:
  1. Clean-up operations required by a governmental body, whether Federal, State, Local, or other involving hazardous substances that are conducted at uncontrolled hazardous waste sites (including, but not limited to, the EPA's National Priority Site List (NPL), state priority site lists, sites recommended for the EPA NPL, and initial investigations of government identified sites which are conducted before the presence or absence of hazardous substances has been ascertained);
  2. Corrective actions involving clean-up operations at sites covered by the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act of 1976 (RCRA) as amended (42 U.S.C. 6901 et seq);
  3. Voluntary clean-up operations at sites recognized by Federal, State, Local, or other governmental bodies as uncontrolled hazardous waste sites;
  4. Operations involving hazardous waste that are conducted at treatment, storage, disposal (TSD) facilities regulated by 40 CFR Parts 264 and 265 pursuant to RCRA; or by agencies under agreement with U.S.E.P.A. to implement RCRA regulations; and
  5. Emergency response operations for release of, or substantial threats of releases of, hazardous substances without regard to the location of the hazard.
